PHASE 4Command System: Complete ✅

This release completes Phase 4 of HarewireBot, establishing a reusable slash command system with command options, registration, and permission controls.

✨ What's New

  • 🏓 /ping — Responds with 🏓 Pong!
  • 💬 /say — Makes HarewireBot send a message provided by the user.
  • 📝 Command options — Commands can now accept user-provided options.
  • 📋 Command registration — Added centralized registration and synchronization with Discord.
  • 🔐 Command permissions — Commands can define required Discord permissions.
  • 🛡️ Runtime permission checks — HarewireBot verifies permissions before executing protected commands.
  • 🔑 Protected registration — The /register endpoint requires the configured X-Registration-Secret header.

🔒 Permissions

  • /say requires the Manage Messages permission.
  • /ping remains available without special permissions.

✅ Verification

All Phase 4 regression tests passed, including command execution, option handling, registration, authorization, and permission enforcement.

🚀 What's Next

With the command system foundation complete, HarewireBot is ready to move into Phase 5, where we'll begin building more useful bot functionality on top of this architecture.

Second development milestone for HarewireBot.

This release introduces the first iteration of a modular command architecture, making the bot easier to maintain and extend as new slash commands are added.

✨ Highlights

  • Introduced a dedicated command system.
  • Moved /ping into its own command module.
  • Added a command router for handling slash commands.
  • Added a shared HarewireCommand type for consistent command structure.
  • Separated Discord request handling from individual command logic.
  • Improved the project's internal architecture without changing existing bot behavior.

🧪 Development Status

HarewireBot is still in active development and is currently being tested on a private development server.

This release is a pre-release and is not considered a stable production release.

The next development milestone will focus on improving command registration and allowing command definitions to be reused for both Discord registration and command execution.
